Defensible coastal and marine evidence — without breaking your operations or your field season

Who we work with

Government and regulators, ports and coastal industry, construction and infrastructure near the water, resource sites with marine environmental obligations, and research or foundation programmes that need survey data engineered end to end.

Problem we solve

Disconnected field teams, instruments, and databases; weak lineage from raw observations to reported metrics; expeditions that are hard to plan, staff, and reconcile with compliance timelines — especially when diving, photogrammetry, or multi-partner campaigns are involved.

Outcome you get

Audit-ready monitoring and reporting pipelines, traceable survey data, expedition plans your crews can execute, and technical leadership that keeps science, safety, and delivery aligned — so you meet permit and licence conditions without operational standstill.

Services

Four integrated service lines. Each is specified for traceability, scaled to your programme, and phrased in terms of operational and compliance outcomes — not tool labels alone. Where programmes need it, we tailor software and workflows to organise people for disciplined data collection; we can also execute acquisition, make outputs available through your chosen channels, and analyse them — or work alongside your teams on any part of that path.

Monitoring

Keep long-term and campaign monitoring on schedule with methods that match your permit conditions — not ad-hoc sampling that fails review.

  • Underwater visual census design and execution (density, diversity, biomass) for reef and coastal fish assemblages.
  • Technical diving, photogrammetry, and imagery acquisition for habitats and structure-from-motion products where your protocol requires them.
  • Multisensor field programmes, probe networks, and expedition planning and leadership for multi-vessel, multi-partner work.

Data analytics

Turn imagery, tracks, and instrument feeds into repeatable pipelines — so analysts and auditors see the same numbers every time.

  • Survey informatics: databases, ETL, APIs, metadata, QA rules, and observatory-style publication workflows.
  • Computer vision and video QC; fish identification and taxonomy-level review for training data and production outputs.
  • Geospatial computing, GIS, and photogrammetry products (orthomosaics, 3D models, benthic metrics) tied to monitoring questions.
Request a data architecture review

Modelling

Link stressors and biological response with models and statistics your technical reviewers can interrogate — not black-box scores.

  • Statistical workflows and reproducible code from mathematical specification through to documented results.
  • Ecological and thermal-stress analyses (e.g. hotspot detection linking temperature to benthic response) aligned to programme hypotheses.
  • Design-of-experiments thinking for survey effort, power, and sampling design before field work is locked in.

Compliance & reporting

Deliver reporting packages regulators and internal governance can trace from field sheets to submission — reducing rework and non-conformance risk.

  • Structured reporting for licence conditions, EIA follow-up, and periodic environmental submissions.
  • Documentation of methods, assumptions, versioning, and change control for audit and peer review.
  • Hand-offs between field crews, laboratory or imagery teams, and corporate data systems, with clear ownership and SLAs.

Industries

Each sector below maps to the same software lifecycle: plan campaigns and resources, deploy capture and sensors in the field, analyse with reproducible pipelines, and manage compliance evidence and operations in one coherent stack. We fit the mix to you: tools that choreograph crews and kit, field work we run for you, publication-ready hand-offs, and analytic depth — any subset or the full thread.

Mining & ports

Software to plan dredging- and berth-linked monitoring, deploy lagoon and near-field programmes, analyse plume and coastal series, and manage submission packs without spreadsheet chaos.

Plan — campaign calendars, sampling grids, roster and vessel windows, permit-linked tasking in shared workspaces. Deploy — structured field forms, instrument and probe registry, ingest QC and staging before analysis. Analyse — GIS and time-series fusion for turbidity, plumes, and reference stations; photogrammetry or imagery jobs where required. Manage — audit trails, role-based dashboards, and versioned reporting bundles for port authorities and corporate EHS.

Request port & coastal software scoping

Construction

Tools to align marine construction phases with adaptive monitoring: plan by milestone, deploy multi-contractor data capture, analyse change through time, and manage defensible hand-overs to the client and regulators.

Plan — phase-linked schedules, EIA commitment tracking, and shared method libraries across consultants and contractors. Deploy — job tracking for surveys, ROV/drone/diver datasets, and standardised metadata at upload. Analyse — before/after spatial layers, habitat metrics, and reproducible notebooks or services for impact indicators. Manage — consolidated dashboards, sign-off workflows, and frozen submission packages per construction stage.

Request construction monitoring software design

Government & regulators

Observatory-grade software to plan national or regional grids, deploy contributions from agencies and partners, analyse with transparent QA, and manage catalogues, APIs, and public-facing indicators.

Plan — station registry, expedition programming, and sampling design linked to policy targets. Deploy — SOP-driven forms, validation rules at ingest, and multi-tenant contribution paths for institutions. Analyse — national indicator pipelines, anomaly flags, and documented statistical treatment for peer review. Manage — data stewardship dashboards, metadata catalogues, API layers, and observatory web fronts with clear lineage.

Request observatory / regulator platform scoping

Industrial sites

Operational software to plan permit-driven coastal monitoring around plants, deploy logger and lab feeds automatically, analyse thresholds and trends, and manage deadlines, approvals, and archived evidence.

Plan — monitoring calendars tied to licence conditions, blackout windows for maintenance, and task ownership. Deploy — scheduled ingest from loggers and LIMS-style hooks, field tablet templates, and error surfacing early. Analyse — alerting on effluent and receptor series, SPC-style views, and linkage to marine receptor models where needed. Manage — compliance due-date tracking, electronic sign-off, and immutable archives for audits.

About

Env-Analytics combines graduate computer science, graduate mathematics, and marine biology with expert-led taxonomy training (fish, corals, benthos, molluscs). That stack is what keeps models, software, and imagery aligned with how organisms and habitats present in the field.

The practice has spent many years planning and leading expeditions in the Pacific and elsewhere — managing vessels, rosters, international teams, and partner science programmes — alongside engineering for observatory data systems, photogrammetry, statistics, and technical diving to mesophotic and deep-reef depths.

How we work

  1. 1

    Scope the decision

Clarify regulatory or science decisions the data must support, constraints, and volumes — before methods are frozen.

  2. 2

    Design methods & logistics

Specify monitoring, analytics, modelling, and reporting together with field logistics interfaces (roles, kit, safety, hand-offs).

  3. 3

    Deliver, document, debrief

Ship pipelines and reports with traceability; capture lessons learned so the next campaign or partner rotation improves.

Selected expeditions (planning & leadership)

  • CRIOBE Polynesia Mana and related networks — recurring site work across French Polynesia and the broader South Pacific (e.g. Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Pitcairn).
  • Archipelago and logistics-heavy campaigns — Australs, Morane, Scilly–Mopelia, and comparable multi-island deployments.
  • Waitt Institute / 100 Island Challenge field teams — Maldives, French Polynesia, Palau, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, and adjacent programmes.
  • National Geographic Pristine Seas (e.g. Rapa Iti), Tara Oceans (Tuamotu), Living Ocean Foundation (Australs).
  • Deep-reef science campaigns — UNESCO-supported exploration off Tahiti (~150 m); CNRS deep-reef work in French Guiana (~120 m); Under The Pole III (Moorea).

Deep diving experience

Advanced trimix and closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) diving for research, with experience across several CCR platforms; mesophotic and deep-reef fish identification from about 60 m to 160 m within institutional safety frameworks. Advanced gas blending, rescue-level training, and dive planning aligned with science objectives — not recreational profiles.

Cross-sector process work

Beyond marine surveys, the same engineering approach supports administrations and research units with repetitive, error-prone workflows: integrations, light databases, scripting, and documentation so operational improvements last.
